Decent zoom lens for indoor wedding?

I'm doing the photography for my friend's wedding. Her wedding is indoors, and I want a decent zoom lens (75-300mm or similar) so I take pictures from afar without standing right in front during the ceremony. I have a small budget - $500 max. What is a decent lens that is fast enough to take indoor photos? Any tips are appreciated.
