What is the point of life if:?

Happiness is selfish, that's true, but I think if we all lived selflessly, it would be a terrible life, not to mention probably impossible. I would rather take and give than live a holy life. And I do believe I am all those things, but I don't think I'm any better or worse because of it. Humanity dangles on a fragile thread, and I think the whole point is to discover the best balance possible and restrict ourselves from these selfish thoughts, even if we can't completely remove ourselves.
