Why didn't Lady gaga win any Grammy in Top Category?

The Grammy's were pretty crap according to me. I had expected Lady GaGa and Beyonce to walk away with top honours. I was pretty surprised at most of the results, including Taylor Swift winning album of the year. I mean Taylors a pretty good singer but isnt an album supposed to show the versatility of an artiste? Fearless had some nice songs in it but it wasnt a great album in terms of showing diversity, so I was dissappointed with that one for sure.
