Which statistics test?

I am yzing a set of data which has cases/controls ( cancer), duration of estrogen use, duration of estrogen+progesterone use. Would it be possible to compare the use of estrogen in cases/controls using a chi2 test? Would it be possible to use a two sample t-test to see if there is a significant difference in cancer incidence? What other tests may be helpful in yzing this data?
